Listen in to Ed in conversation with Amy, Jodie & Adam, talking about how to raise 5 to 7-year-old children, hoping for them to know Christ eternally.5-7s are getting better at expressing themselves, knowing their own mind, and having a thirst for life. One of the potential challenges is adjusting to school life - especially when they may be either "ahead" or "behind" others in class. Amy says - "It's really helpful for me to say to myself that God made this little person exactly how he wants them to be, and he loves them; I don't need to try and change them. The key thing that we always pray for our kids is that we want them to know that they are loved by us and by God, and however they get on at school doesn't really impact that; it doesn't make a difference whether they are struggling in maths or don't know their times tables - they are still loved by God regardless of how their results are at school."With discipline, we need to be really consistent, because fairness is huge for 5s - 7s. You need to work out what is childish vs what is disobedient. With this age group, you can explain what is wrong with bad behaviour - you can even hint at the God-reason e.g. "We don't hurt other people because God loves them"; "We don't lie because God never lies"If this podcast encourages you as you disciple your kids, please do send this episode to a parent you think would appreciate it - maybe drop it into a WhatsApp group for your church's mums/dads/carers group, with something you found encouraging from the episode.Links of Fun:Family Devotionals book plug - Indescribable by Louie Giglio https://www.10ofthose.com/uk/products?q=indescribablePurchase our Newest Book:The new book Meals with Jesus from Faith in Kids in partnership with The Good Book Company can be ordered here (https://www.thegoodbook.co.uk/meals-with-jesus).
