Tributes pour in from the Gospel community for rapper DMX

Writing about the rapper on Instagram, The Potters House Denvers Toure Roberts posted: One of the things that life and ministry have taught me is that servants of God come in a variety of packages. They often dont serve inside of steepled edifices, wear clergy collars or have a title in front of their name..

In April 2020, DMXs Instagram live bible study and devotion video went viral. The rapper read from the book of Ecclesiastes, prayed, and encouraged his followers to keep their faith and hope in God during the pandemic. He closed out the live by giving the opportunity for people to accept Christ.

The rapper included a prayer track on almost every project of his and in the aftermath of his passing Def Jam Records released the EP - A Dogs Prayers which is a compilation of 4 of the rappers prayers.

Remembering the rapper, gospel singer and producer Fred Hammond posted: The struggle is over sir, I appreciate and saw the fight! Blessings on your family and all your fans. New Births senior pastor Jamal Bryant paid tribute to DMX saying: a true soldier for this generation has exchanged his bike for wings! A rough Ryder has made a smooth transition. Thank you for showing black men its ok to pray!....

The hip-hop world lost an icon last week. Known for his public prayer offerings, rapper DMX had been very vocal about his relationship with God over the years.
