Thousands set to pay tribute to Bishop Sidney Dunn

He died last month at the age of 95 after serving the UK church for over sixty years.

After arriving from Jamaica as part of the 'Windrush Generation', Bishop Dunn went on to become one of the UK's first black bishops, plant over 40 churches and sent many missionaries abroad.

A number of memorial services are being held this week for the Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ founder to allow local parishioners, national congregants and the wider international Christian community to pay respect.

Nick Myers from Bethel led tributes on Premier's News Hour and explained how he'll be remembered.

He said: "In spite of being a pioneering figure, he'll be remembered as a humble man.

"He once said if after he's died people put up a sign saying he was the founder of the church he'd want to come back and tear the sign down because in his mind the church was never lost - it found him - so he wouldn't consider himself the founder of anything."
