The MOBO Awards return this December with Burna Boy and CalledOut Music both bagging nominations

This years event is pencilled for the 9th December and will be live streamed on YouTube at 7pm and broadcast on BBC One at 10:45pm. Hosts for the night will be Maya Jama and YouTube creator, music artist and comedian Chunkz. Taking the stage for her MOBO debut this year, is the Queen of Afrobeats Tiwa Savage, who promises to deliver a show stopping performance.

Leading the nominations with a whopping 5 nods is reigning Hip Hop king Nines. The 30-year-old North West London MC is nominated for  Best Male Act, Best Hip Hop Act, Album of The Year for the critically-acclaimed Crabs In A BucketVideo of The Year for Clout and Best Album (2017-2019) for 2018s Crop Circle

Over the last few years Afrobeats has taken the world by storm and dominated major western award shows. A slew of celebrated Grammy-award winning artists have taken turns to collaborate with African afrobeat giants such as Burna Boy, Davido, Stonebwoy and Tiwa Savage who are all nominated in this years MOBO Best African Act category.

 Recognising the unique role the MOBO Awards plays for so many, and the challenging year we find ourselves in, it is now more important than ever to be there and to continue the rich history of showcasing the very best of Black music and culture. We are proud to partner with the YouTube and the BBC to bring this years celebration to millions of music fans and continue to uplift creative voices here in the UK and around the world. .  said MOBO Founder, Kanya King.

Premier Gospel Station Director, Muyiwa Olanrewaju OBE said: We are excited to partner with the MOBO Awards again to bring you the Best Gospel Act Category. Premier Gospel listeners will be thrilled to discover that this years nominees include some of their favourites - Called Out Music, Noel Robinson, Guvna B, The Kingdom Choir and Shekinah.

The MOBO Awards show is back after a 2-year hiatus and this year's show promises to be the biggest yet. Launched in 1996, the MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) was created to celebrate artists making music of Black origin in the UK. Past MOBO winners include Lurine Cato, Volney Morgan & New Ye, Rachel Kerr and Stormzy.
