Stormzy has a message for UK Gospel artists

Gospel music has a rich history and has been a source of inspiration for many people. However, in recent years, there has been a trend of gospel artists who have decided to abandon their gospel roots and pursue a career in secular music. One such artist is Lecrae, who rose to fame as a gospel rapper, known for his spiritual lyrics and message of hope. But in recent years, Lecrae has distanced himself from the Christian music industry and has focused on making secular music that is more mainstream and accessible to a wider audience. Another example of a gospel artist who has made the transition to secular music is UK group Green Jade, who rejected their MOBO award nomination for the gospel category. The group, which was formed in the late 90s, was known for their gospel-inspired R&B and soul music. However, in recent years, they have distanced from their gospel roots and have focused on making mainstream R&B and pop music. There are several reasons why gospel artists might choose to make the transition to secular music. Some may feel that they have outgrown the gospel music industry and want to explore new creative avenues. Others may simply want to reach a wider audience and gain more mainstream success. While their decision may be disappointing to some fans of gospel music, it is important to remember that these artists are still talented musicians who have made a significant impact on the music industry. Their impact has been so great that one of the most successful British music artists, Stormzy, in an exclusive interview with Muyiwa Riversongz, shared that he is deeply inspired by the gospel music industry. Stormzy has pioneered grime music in the UK for nearly a decade, performing his award-winning songs on some of the most renowned world stages such as the Glastonbury festival. He sympathised with gospel artist today saying: Its tough and it may not seem like many people are listening but this is Gods work. Listen to his full message to the UK gospel scene here:
