Crowds gathered at The Clapham Grand to enjoy a night of afro-gospel - a genre that has become more popular in recent years. Artists such as Limoblaze and Happi are to thank for its elevation here in the UK and internationally, with Limoblaze producing a joint album with Christian hip-hop giant Da Truth in 2021, and Happi having his afro remix of Lecraes Jireh going viral and performed by the artist himself at this years Big Church Day Out
Reviews from the night have been glowing, however some noted the wait time for the event to start was too long, with one concert goer describing the wait as atrocious.
Im going to be real. The first point isnt nice but cannot be missed.

Having people waiting outside for 2 hours is atrocious. Regardless of the excuse, it just cant be justified. An online announcement and apology while waiting would have been respectful.
With Christian events facing criticism in the past for their lack of preparation and organisation many were disappointed that this event fell foul to this stereotype, however with this being one of their first events there's always room for improvement and growth. Emmanuel Farinu, one of the event organisers, issued an apology following the night saying that the late start was a 'domino effect from technical difficulties' and how it 'was a blip on an awesome performances' and have said they'll work on ensuring that doesn't happen again. People soon forgot about the events at the start with the incredible ministering that followed throughout the night.
Asha Elia, CalledOut music and Becca Folkes proved to be favourites for the night, with Asha having dance choreography in her set and Calledout music taking the stage to perform some of his most loved tracks.
All the way from the Midlands Stevie Valentine and Paul the Messenger came and ministered, with Happi and Limoblaze giving the supporters what they wanted with the Afroremix of Jireh, bringing the house down. The Spirituals Choir set everyone on fire with their effortless harmonies and ministering.
Despite the rocky start, many have shared how the night turned out to be a beautiful evening full of worship and hopefully is one of many to come, housing the ever growing genre that is afro-gospel. To find out about future events visit: @SoloLondon
