Prayers for Davido after son dies 'drowning in pool'

Prayers have been sent out after the death of Davido's son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, on Monday. Ifeanyi, who celebrated his third birthday last week, is said to have drowned in the swimming pool of his parents home in the capital city of Nigeria, Lagos. Davido and his fiance Chioma Rowland, a popular chef and influencer, have not yet commented on their son's death. Davido has often spoke on his belief in God, praising and thanking Him. In a tweet earlier this year Davido said: "Trusting GOD's plan isn't always easy. Doubt, fear and insecurities can fill our minds. But we have to remind ourselves that our GOD is an Awesome GOD. HE's the only one who knows our future and HE's in control.!!!!" The music artists last Instagram post dedicated to his son on his birthday was asking God to grant him 'health and pure happiness', reading: "I pray with all my heart that God grants you perfect health and pure happiness for as long as humanly possible. You will grow to be greater than Me , Happy birthday, son @davidifeanyiadeleke !!! #BIG3"

Hundreds of thousands of people have been sending their support and prayers to the couple online, with the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, sent out a tweet saying: "I send my sincere condolences to Davido and Chioma, over the death of their son Ifeanyi. I cannot begin to imagine the pains they are going through at the moment. May God grant them healing, strength and comfort in this trying time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family." Music artists have shared their support too with Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga tweeting: "what a dark day. My heart and love go to David and Chioma. @davido I pray for your heart and mind this period. You have endured so much loss brother. May God hold you in his arms and keep you through this". UK Christian artists have also been affected by the news, with MOBO Award winner Calledout Music asking God to mend the broken hearts: "seeing so much hurt and pain on the TL. May the Lord heal every broken heart." Police in Nigeria have taken in eight domestic workers for questioning following the death of Ifeanyi.

Lord, we are asking you to comfort David, Chioma, and all those affected by the death of Ifeanyi. May he rest in eternal peace, may you warm the hearts of all those in pain and guide them through their process of grief, ensuring they find comfort in your spirit and love, in Jesus name, amen.
