Marvin is the founder and pastor of Perfecting Church in Detroit, Michigan and is also a member of the well-known musical Winans family.

Speaking to his church, Marvin made the announcement during a church service and invited Deneen onto the stage with him as the congregation honoured their pastor and shared their congratulations with the couple.

"I'm gonna ask this young lady, sister Deneen Carter to come. I don't know if you all heard but over the weekend your pastor got engaged," Marvin explained.

"Show them your ring child, show them your ring. I got engaged for real."

He continued: "So, I asked her to come, so you could see her and look her over and [you can] talk later and see if I did okay and all that other stuff. But let's give God praise, thank you so much."

This will be Marvin's second marriage as he was previously married to Vickie Winans - Marvin and Vickie got divorced in the mid 90s.

The former couple were married for around 16 years from 1978 to 1995 and they have two children together named Marvin Winans Jr and Josiah Winans. Marvin also had a stepson named Mario Winans during his marriage to Vickie.
