Kirk Franklin, Lecrae, CeCe Winans and more feature in new documentary The Jesus Music

The Jesus Music features interviews with some of the worlds greatest gospel artists including Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, Lecrae and Lauren Daigle. 

In a new trailer, The Jesus Music includes footage of civil unrest in the 60s, it shows how the counterculture movement helped to establish contemporary Christian music culture.

Franklin said: You want to find a loving way to have these conversations.

As Christian music expanded, there were new sounds and perspectives, which helped the genre to evolve further.

Other artists featured in the documentary include Kari Jobe, For King & Country, MercyMe, Natalie Grant, Hillsong United, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, TobyMac, Steven Curtis Chapman, Newsboys, Stryper, Skillet, DC Talk, Love Song, 2nd Chapter of Acts and Rez Band.

There was so much great music going on, everything felt so fresh and new, Grant explained.

Throughout The Jesus Music, the musicians will also share their personal perspectives on music, they will explain how it impacted their lives and changed them.

It became part of the fabric of who I was, Franklin added.

Daigle explained: To see the richness of hope land upon someones spirit via rhythm, rhyme and melody. Sound. I dont understand it.

The music-documentary is directed by Jon and Andrew Erwin, known as the Erwin Brothers, the pair are established in Hollywood and have created movies such as I Can Only Imagine and I Still Believe.
