Knife crime continues to increase in the inner cities of the UK and amongst young people at an alarming rate. Peace On Our Streets calls on Christians from across the country, and across denominations, to harness the power of prayer and pray for the reduction in these incidences of youth violence.
Editor of Premiers Youth and Childrens Work magazine, Ruth Jackson said, In a recent BBC interview, the Prime Minster said that the government had to do more to tackle knife crime, however as a church we also have a responsibility to help bring about change.
Christians can sign-up to pray by visiting a dedicated microsite, peaceonourstreets.org.uk. This microsite features a map and allows users to enter their postcode to show which area they are praying for, with the ultimate aim to cover the entire map in prayer. Users will also be able to access local crime figures that can be used as a prayer point, as well as the option to receive supporting resources, such as text prayers and weekly e-sends to support their prayer journey.
Premier will be hosting a season of supporting programmes, features and interviews on Premier Christian Radio, Premier Gospel and Premier Praise in October. In addition, there will be articles and blogs from Premier Christianity and Premier Youth and Childrens work magazine.
