Akosua DF: Your new single is titled Baraka. Tell us the inspiration behind the song ?

Deb-Orah: So Baraka means blessing in Swahili. Ive been literally counting the blessings that God has been pouring over my life. I think it's important for us to be people that understand the importance of gratitude and the significance of counting the small and big blessings. One of Swahili lines in the song says "Everybody will testify and say Hallelujah because of the blessings that they see." Its a song of rejoicing, encouraging us to count our blessings throughout the day. Thats the inspiration behind the song.

Akosua DF: You recorded your last single with your baby on your lap? How do you manage to juggle being a mum of 2 toddlers and an artist?

Deb-Orah: [Laughs] Yes, I recorded Jesus Youre the Anthem with my daughter on my lap. She is only 5months old going on 6 months and is very dependent on me so I have to juggle it all. My son is just two so having two kids under two is a bit crazy, but its a good crazy. Its taught me to manage my time and be organised. You have to set time for things that are priorities. Being a wife, mother, artist and worship leader are all important to me but its about balance and making time. There is a time to work and a time to rest. I just had a baby but this is my season for putting music out and being creative, I can say that Im thoroughly enjoying it. Women are super heroes. Yes, we are able to do it all by Gods grace. I constantly remind myself why I do what I do. Pray for me though because it aint easy.

Akosua DF: Praying, praying, praying. I've gotta say you write the most beautiful songs. I absolutely LOVE Hope for My Soul [Psalm 23]. I think my listeners must be tired of hearing me constantly profess my unwavering love for the song each time I play it on air [Laughs]. I am curious to know if there is any song in the public domain that you wish youd written?

Deb-Orah : Aaaawe thank you so much that means lot. I would say hymns. I wish I wrote some of the classic hymns that we all know. I just think they have so much power and meaning. I say I wish I wrote them but actually some of the stories behind some of the hymns e.g. It is well erm have some very touching and heart-breaking stories yet powerful testimonies. I wouldnt know if Id want to experience some of the things that led the writers to pen those powerful songs, but if I had to pick songs it would be hymns.
