4 Holy Week Reflections

Here are four reflections for this week to meditate on:

1. Jesus' Entry in to Jerusalem

The lessons we can take from how Jesus entered Jerusalem, the humility and the determination to follow through despite knowing how the journey would end. This must have been difficult for the man of Jesus to carry out, knowing the pain that would be upon Him at the end of the week. He entered Jerusalem confidently, humbly and on a donkey to let the people know he hadn't come to bring war but peace.

"As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away. Matthew 21:111

2. The Sacrifice

The sacrifice Jesus made for us all over 2000 years ago and how even today, we still know the significance of it, the love and the power behind the cruxifixction and resurrection. People are still being saved, their lives changing and they're still building relationships with our mighty God so many years after this event. There has never been any one like Jesus in history and the immense power of what He did is felt today.

"and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christthe righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christyes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead." Philippians 3:9-11

3. Being More Like Him

How we can be more like Jesus in our day to day lives, how to honour and respect our Prince of peace and ensure His light is shining through us. He is the man to which we should model our lives, our thoughts and our actions, to study, to take note of his teachings and in doing this we're able to ensure His light will be spread in to all the corners of the world.

"Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:13

4. Worshipping Him

For His sacrifice, for His power, for His strength, for His love, for His kindness this week we should take time out to reflect upon how we're going to worship Him best. Jesus doesn't ask much of us, He gave His life for us and learning how to love Him is something we can strive to do throughout this week so that we're refreshed, full of love, hope and Jesus.

"The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad." Psalm 118:24

April 12, 2022. Sunday marked the beginning of the holiest week in the Christian calendar. It was this week that Jesus made his way to Jerusalem, was arrested, crucified and then rose from the dead three days later. If it wasn't for the events of this week the Christian faith wouldn't exist and us, as followers of Jesus, wouldn't have been given the chance of salvation.
